ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE WASTE AND DECOMMISSIONING ENGINEER:

  • Experience of building good relationships with clients and stakeholders based on trust.
  • Has a data-orientated background with a logical apporach
  • Waste characterisation, decommissioning (e.g. exprience dealing with waste arising from fuel) or Engineering background
  • Work experience (ideally nuclear sector experience)

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE WASTE AND DECOMMISSIONING ENGINEER:

  • Science degree is preferable.

THE ROLE

As a Waste and Decommissioning Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support the delivery of technical activities relating to Nuclear, Waste Characterisation, Management and Strategy through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience.You will work on strategically important and critical projects for the countries defence sector, looking decades ahead and planning to reduce risks and limiting early warnings.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide specialist advice during the design, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and for the production of all waste management documentation required under Site License Conditions and the Environmental Permit.

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relations with customers, colleagues and other Cavendish Nuclear departments.
  • Provide support to strategic growth campaigns and bids including supporting value propositions, marketing content and presentation materials to support the Cavendish Nuclear Strategy.
  • Maintain knowledge of Industry best practice and support a culture of waste management best practice.
  • Engaging with stakeholders including preparing questions and presentation materials.
  • Provide input to design projects, ensuring that nuclear safety requirements are incorporated.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with two days in the office/onsite and three days working from home.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met.
