Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste and Recycling Adviser to join a new, small team in the Environmental Solutions department, supporting the business in all aspects of waste management.
If you have waste management experience and knowledge of processes in either the water or construction and demolition industry, then we want to hear from you!
This role would suit someone who likes engaging with internal teams and external suppliers face to face, as well as understanding and managing all aspects of the 200,000 tonnes of waste we generate each year.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To be successful you will have an excellent understanding of all the types of waste that could be generated by the business and the drive to sustainably and efficiently manage them.
In addition, we are looking for someone with:
- a degree or equivalent level of experience in a science or environmental subject
- sound knowledge of wastewater treatment and construction processes
- two years of experience in a similar or related role
- IT literacy
- data analysis skills, including being comfortable using Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level
- a valid full UK driving license.

Responsibilities:
You will provide technical advice to teams on waste management issues and help to guide the business using data and your specialist insights to ensure we minimise waste generated and comply with all waste management legislation.
Additionally, you will be involved in:
- managing waste framework contracts to ensure compliance with agreed service level standards, external legislation and continuity of supply
- helping to develop new circular economy opportunities
- providing technical support to operational staff
- conducting internal and external (supply chain) waste management improvement reviews to monitor performance, identify non-compliance, identify risk areas and set improvement plans
- liaising with various internal and external stakeholders.
