Our success is built on a foundation of diverse talents and perspectives, and we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
In our continuous journey of growth and innovation within the Maritime Team here at Carnival UK, we are seeking Waste Optimisation Manager to bring fresh insights and expertise to our department.
Overview:
We are seeking a Manager of Waste Optimisation to join our team and support the fleet in all aspects of waste offloading. This role involves streamlining offload practices, managing the Port Waste Planning Tool (PWPT), and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure waste management processes are effective, cost efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards. The Manager will balance competing priorities, operational complexities, and manage both schedules and budgets while driving continuous improvement in waste management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Offload Planning & Coordination: Support waste offloading across the fleet, leveraging port exemptions and pricing advantages in collaboration with the Technical Stores Manager and Environmental Officer.
  • Process Improvement & Support: Develop tools to enhance fleet awareness of waste volumes and offloads. Serve as the primary contact for offload queries, working with environmental teams and port agents to resolve issues.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with the SMT and environmental team to ensure regulatory compliance and build relationships with ship crews to address operational challenges.
  • PWPT Management: Update and enhance the Port Waste Planning Tool based on fleet feedback, ensuring its usability and training ship staff on its use with compliant waste vendors.
  • Environmental Compliance & Cost Control: Maintain Track waste supplier services. Identify cost-saving opportunities to negotiate better pricing with ports and suppliers.
  • Reporting & Trend Analysis: Develop reports on waste volumes, costs, and trends, including weekly updates on waste-related metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review the suitability of waste categories and the application of Units of Measure. Work with other Carnival Corporation brands to implement best practices.

Would you like to make any additional adjustments or focus more on specific areas? This role is positioned at CUK8 level within our organization and is available on a full-time, 12 month fixed term basis. We offer hybrid work including up to two days from home.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Your unique background and skills are what will make you stand out. We’re looking for:

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with port regulations and cruise ship operations desired.
  • Ideally you will have an understanding of regulatory compliance, environmental management, and operational coordination.
  • Analytical skills, including Excel such as pivot tables, database management and spreadsheets.
  • Proven experience in maritime technical, environmental, waste, sustainability or scheduling management fields.

APPLICATION GUIDANCE

Diversity is our strength, and we encourage applications from those with varied experiences, whether you meet every listed requirement or not. If you’re passionate about the maritime industry and looking for an opportunity to grow, we’d love to hear from you.
