Description:
A fantastic opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Waste Services Coordinator to join our Waste Services business unit.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate and manage waste services operations within the Mackay Region. This role demands a proactive approach to waste management, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to lead a dedicated team.
In this role, you will demonstrate your leadership and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships within the Waste Services team, other Council programs, clients, contractors, and key stakeholders. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective business processes and systems to ensure the ongoing delivery of best-practice client and contract management.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in waste management or a similar role within a local government or equivalent organisation.
- Strong knowledge of waste management practices, legislation, and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and technology for waste management operations.
- A valid Queensland driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily waste collection and disposal operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement waste management strategies and initiatives to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
- Monitor and report on waste service performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Liaise with contractors, residents, and stakeholders to resolve service issues and maintain positive relationships.
- Supervise the maintenance and operation of waste management facilities and equipment.
- Manage budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Promote community awareness and education programs focused on waste reduction and recycling.
