Description:

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Technology in Chemistry, Wastewater treatment or related field with applicable environmental knowledge required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience that includes hands on lab experience with the ability to interpretation results and make effective changes to the wastewater treatment processes and/or correct deficiencies.
  • Effective communicator.
  • DCS experience preferred.
  • Significant experience in the area of aerobic wastewater treatment plants and processes /anaerobic treatment plant experience are considered an asset.
  • Understanding of 5S and Kaizen. Various PM’s and housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Mechanical working knowledge sufficient for troubleshooting and minor repair is considered an asset
  • Must have working knowledge of relevant environmental and wastewater treatment related legislation and regulations.
  • Motivated, self-starter, ability to work alone and unsupervised when on shift. Ability to react to varying situations to help correct treatment issues.
  • Flexibility to work the current continental shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the wastewater treatment facility according to all relevant SOP’s for both Operations, Health and Safety and any other documented procedures as well as prevailing conditions of the treatment system.
  • Ensure the wastewater treatment plant is maintained, operating efficiently and that effluent is meeting or exceeding regulatory specifications.
  • Document and log various operating parameters and provide necessary information to appropriate workplace parties as-needed, regularly and consistent basis.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of emerging issues related to the environment in general with a specific emphasis on areas, which impact or have the potential to impact wastewater treatment.
  • Perform preventative and corrective actions to processes and equipment within the scope of duties, including communicating with other departments to notify of influent observations.
  • Perform inspections and daily rounds with the focus on health, safety and the environment, as well as good equipment operation.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices within the areas of responsibility, including 5S and Kaizen initiatives while striving to be audit ready at all times.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.
