Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Ontario Regulation 129/04 Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 2 License.
- If no qualified candidates, the Employer may consider the following under fills in this order:
- Waste Water Treatment Operator Class I License and must successfully complete the Class 2 exam within two (2) years of date of hire.Waste Water Treatment Operator OIT License and must successfully complete the Class 1 exam within the first year of from date of hire.
- all successful applicants will be expected to maintain licenses and certificates in good standing and obtain their Ontario regulation 129/04 Waste Water Treatment Operator Class 1 License.
- Must possess a valid ‘DZ’ Class Ontario Driver’s License and maintain license in good standing.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Water Resource Act as it pertains to Wastewater Treatment and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of the use and safe handling of treatment chemicals used in the wastewater treatment process.
- Must possess computer experience in a work environment with proficiency in Microsoft Office products and familiarity with SCADA systems.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.
- Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of assigned duties and tasks to ensure operation, maintenance, and repair of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Monitors plant controls including performing daily readings of flow meters and equipment operating hours.
- Collects daily samples and performs chemical analysis readings.
- Operates a variety of large and small equipment, hand and power tools and performs daily laboring duties.
- Troubleshoots and identifies wastewater flow problems.
- Must be prepared to work overtime, be available for call-outs, emergencies and stand-by.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract
