Location: Lions Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant, North Shore
Salary Range/ Wage Rate: $3,520.80 bi-weekly plus 6.25% deferred compensation

YOU ARE: A DEDICATED, HARD—WORKING INDIVIDUAL WHO CAN WORK WELL ON THEIR OWN AND WITH A TEAM, OFTEN IN A SENIOR OPERATOR CAPACITY. EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE NECESSARY, BOTH VERBAL AND WRITTEN AS WELL AS EXPERIENCE USING VARIOUS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS COMMON TO THE INDUSTRY. CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE A COMBINATION OF RELATED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE.

This role: (The duties described hereunder are intended to be representative of the position and are not to be considered all inclusive.)

  • Operates, monitors and maintains the wastewater treatment facility and related support systems. Operates process equipment such as pumps, valves, digital control systems, disinfection systems and performs or assists in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
  • Performs process sampling and designated laboratory testing. Interprets lab results and evaluates plant operation and systems performance against performance objectives; investigates and undertakes corrective action where necessary.
  • Creates and maintains plant operating records; submits work progress, operations and investigative reports, assists in preparation of schedules, monitors levels of operating supplies.
  • Reviews and provides input to planned plant, process, and support system upgrades.
  • Assists and develops documentation for work-related procedures.
  • Lubricates and cleans machinery and equipment. Performs “housekeeping” and general maintenance work throughout the plant. Operates ancillary equipment such as trucks, small tractors, lawn mowers & pressure washers.
  • Trains and directs junior staff in operation and maintenance procedures. Maintains technical currency relative to wastewater treatment and related ancillary systems.
  • Conducts tours of the facility and answers queries from the general public visiting the plant.
  • May act in the capacity of a senior Operator when required.
  • Works in compliance with all District safety policies, procedures and WorkSafe BC regulations
