Your Opportunity
We are looking for a Station Captain / Watch Manager who will be responsible for the management and performance of station personnel in the provision of 24/7 aviation focused Rescue & Firefighting Services (RFFS), including but not limited to: the provision of ARFF services to designated airfield to the specified GACA Category, for civilian aircraft and provide SRFF services in response to incidents, including fire, rescues, building and facility emergencies, storms, flooding, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials release and de-contamination/clean up tasks.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to multi-task and manage various tasks, and good communication
This role is part of the Fire and Rescue Services (Aviation) department and will be based in Saudi Arabia.
Key Accountabilities
Required to be fully conversant with airport requirement documents and policies, able to demonstrate underpinning knowledge and understanding of local/international RFFS standards and regulations (GACAA/NFPA/ICAO).
Assumes the role of Incident Commander at medium-scale and protracted incidents or when required, maintaining fire service responsibility for command and control
Assumes the role of Sector Commander at large-scale and protracted incidents.
Leads/Manages fire crews of their assigned vehicle or equipment in the performance of all firefighting, rescue or other required duties
Leads/Manages the crews of all assigned vehicles or equipment in the performance of all firefighting, rescue or other required duties during a multiple vehicle deployment incident.
Directs the positioning of vehicles, the deployment of crews and equipment and manages tasks in response to emergency incidents.
Responsible for operation of their vehicle radio communications and for coordination with other emergency services vehicles
Responsible for all communication with fire control room and/or Air Traffic Control for all necessary clearances, instructions and incident information.
Supervises vehicle replenishment of water and agent/media tanks.
Responsible for driving a range of fire service vehicles, as and when required.
Assists in the ongoing mandatory competency-based fire training of fire and rescue service personnel as required, ensuring all records are maintained.
Manages the assignment of all personnel, vehicle manning and general watch/shift duties
Conducts periodic tests, inspections, drills and exercises to ensure complete operational capability and readiness of the Fire and Rescue Service
Manages the daily operations, ensuring serviceability and readiness of vehicle/equipment and manpower in alignment with the airfield category.
Reports vehicle and equipment status including defects requiring attention to the Fire Chief.
Ensures all entries in station logbooks are correctly filed including the recording of standbys, fires, RTAs and all other incidents requiring fire service personnel and/or equipment are entered into the incident log
Supervises the management of daily station duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment, actively promoting health, safety, welfare and environmentally safe practices.
Conducts all duties in line with company and airfield standard operating procedures.
Is required to wear all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and chemical protection as required.
Performs fire related client/customer engagement and interface on behalf of the fire and rescue service, including the delivery of educational fire safety awareness programmes, training, specialist event cover and standby services in support of other airfield departments as required
Maintains their own personal physical fitness levels to support requirements of the role.
Ensures crew physical fitness, medical standards and qualifications are maintained.
Ensures that all aspects of people management responsibilities are managed in accordance with Serco policies and procedures, utilising the relevant Serco systems, where required. This includes, but is not limited to: training and development, performance management, sickness absence and disciplinary.
Performs any other role and/or associated duties as required and assigned by their line management. May deputise for the Fire Chief in their absence
Specific Requirements (What we are looking for in our candidates)
Ideally a degree holder in Human Resources/ administration or any related discipline.
Education – Twelve (12) years formal education. University Degree in a fire/rescue related subject (Desirable).
Specialized Qualifications – Applicants shall be certified competent in role and as a minimum requirement, qualified to an Aviation Rescue & Firefighting Service standard recognised by international/regional regulatory bodies such as: GACA (Essential), ICAO and/or CAA, FAA, GCAA.Certification, ProBoard or IFSAC accredited
Experience – Five-Ten (5-10) years’ experience in fire/rescue services including three (3) years as a Crew Chief or similar position. At least three (2) of the last five (3) years must have been spent in an equivalent Station Captain / Watch Manager position. Additional fire/rescue work experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years formal education in the ratio of two (2) years’ experience to one (1) years education (Essential).
Certified ‘Medically Fit’ for the role (Essential).
Languages – English Oral/Written (Essential), Arabic (Desirable).
Middle East work experience (Desirable)
Proficient in Microsoft Office work suite (Desirable).

Manage the main fire station and ensure around the clock readiness of crew and equipment. Based in a remote location in Saudi Arabia, the successful candidates will be NFPA qualified fire and rescue professionals with substantial experience within a similar Watch / Chief / Station Manager position. Experience providing fire and rescue services within an airport will be vital to being successful in the role. In addition, the opportunity will suit individuals who enjoy working within a team and enjoy spending time within a close community type environment, since this is a live in position.

Demonstrable experience in fire/rescue services as a Crew Chief or similar position
Certified ‘Medically Fit’ for the role
Fluent in English Communication in both Oral and Written
Happy to work in a remote location
Valid light and heavy vehicle operator license in country of origin
