Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Environment Senior Scientist to join our Water Environment business based in Belfast or Letterkenny.

ABOUT RPS:

We encourage and value different ideas, perspectives, and styles of thinking. We need a mix of experiences and techniques to develop the ideas. We respect one another and recognise the potential and contribution of everyone. You’ll be joining a diverse community and a company that puts its people first and prioritises their wellbeing.
Our projects are all around you. We define, design, and take care of projects that create shared value to a composite, urbanising and resource-scarce world. Our people are our success. We are looking for people who can find a solution to the problems that matter. Our flat structure creates greater collaboration and speed of communication, enabling us to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters degree) and
  • Ideally an appropriate professional membership (Chartered Scientist, Environmentalists, or Water Manager preferred).

WE KNOW WE DEVELOP BETTER SOLUTIONS TOGETHER.

That’s why we’re committed to ensuring Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in all that we do. For us to live our purpose of creating shared value and to deliver on our promise to ‘make complex easy’ – for us and for our clients, we continue to build a culture where different working styles and experiences can thrive to achieve exceptional results.
We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and work in partnership with Inclusive Employers. We’re also proud to support reservists and their families, having signed the Armed Forces Covenant. An inclusive culture enables our people to do things differently, working in ways to suit them while delivering their best for RPS. That’s why we’ve created working groups as true inclusion is a journey that involves learning, collaboration, and engagement.
Please let us know if you require any adjustments during the interview process, we can then make reasonable changes to support you in performing to the best of your ability.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise and lead, manage and co-ordinate multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a diverse range of water environment projects.
  • Manage the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/ Environmental Statements (and in the future Environmental Outcomes Reports) and supporting assessments and documents, including the technical review of specialist chapters.
  • Be involved in all project life stages, from early strategy development and site identification studies, through feasibility, optioneering/ option selection, outline design, to detailed design, discharging of conditions, construction, and scheme operation/ maintenance.
  • Ensure a critical eye for detail to ensure that our deliverables are produced to the highest quality standards and compliance with our rigorous quality management procedures.
  • Make effective use of your project management skills, appropriately managing resources and budgets (with support as applicable).
  • Work as part of integrated team to improve the environmental outcomes of our projects – you will identify environmental constraints, identify impact avoidance and mitigation solutions, as well as opportunities to deliver benefits.
  • Management of client relationships, internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Promote our environmental services to both internal and external audiences. You will identify and lead business development opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development.
