Job Description
The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Water Resources EIT for full-time employment. This position is based out of our Burnaby Office (Vancouver Metro).
The appropriately qualified candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting water resources projects that include water resources planning, watershed and stormwater management and modelling, environmental assessments, hydrology, hydraulics, stream rehabilitation/natural channel design, flood risk assessments, highway drainage systems, in-field assessment, and monitoring. Skills you will likely use or develop in this job include project coordination, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, water quality and quantity monitoring, data analysis, and report/proposal writing all in a friendly, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment at AECOM. This role offers upwards career progression within AECOM for motivated candidates with the right aptitude and work ethic.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing technical engineered solutions for surface water projects including water supply planning and management, alternatives analysis, hydraulic calculations, flood mitigation, etc.
  • Performing streamflow analyses, water resources modeling, watershed planning, stormwater management, preparing planning documents, etc.
  • Producing design calculations, plans, models, estimates, specifications, and technical reports, and developing drawings and visual aids for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Designing surface water management infrastructure from feasibility level to construction documentation including detailed design, tender documentation
  • Coordinating and supporting project execution including communicating with clients, meetings, completing technical analysis and reviews, preparing reports and proposals, conceptual/preliminary and detailed designs of surface water infrastructure.
  • Exercising judgment relating to developing work details in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Working directly with the group manager, project engineers, hydrologists, fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists, junior and support staff on projects related to Water Resources, mostly within Ontario.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment working on water resources projects.
  • Master’s degree in Water Resources.
  • Ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively and work with others is essential.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced working knowledge of ArcGIS, Civil3D, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Experience or working knowledge of the following software packages: AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, InfoWorks, etc.
  • Experience in proposal preparation including determining work scope, preparing time task breakdowns, and preparing text sections on technical approach, team and project experience, etc.
  • Interested and capable to take on project management duties (schedule and budget control, client contact, proposal writing etc.) as assigned.
