DESCRIPTION:
ATCO Frontec is seeking an Entry-level Operator to join our Two Rivers Lodge in Fort St John, BC. The Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will be working under the direction of the responsible operator for all aspects of the Water and Wastewater operations infrastructure within the project scope.
The Two Rivers Lodge is an 1800 bed workforce housing facility built to support the Site C dam project construction. The lodge has its own water and wastewater treatment facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Class 2 wastewater treatment licence
- Minimum Class 3 Water treatment licence
- Minimum Class 1 water distribution licence
- Currently a registered member in good standing with the EOCP (Environmental Operators Certification Program)
- Experience in related field an asset for plumbing, electrical and light maintenance duties
- Knowledge and experience of laboratory procedures is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Excellent team player
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Must be able to provide driver’s abstract
- Certification of WHMIS procedures
- Ability to maintain logs as required
- Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience in working with hazardous chemicals such as Calcium hypochlorite is required
- Alberta Construction Safety Association CSTS or British Columbia Construction Safety Association SiteReady required for site access.

Responsibilities:
- Operation of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Daily checking and monitoring of all equipment in the treatment plant and records and records statistical data concerning plant operations.
- Charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analysis and test results.
- Evaluates data and writes reports as required.
- Evaluates procedures and results for accuracy and determines appropriate methods.
- Assures that the plant operates within required standards.
- Oversees safe and proper operations for all potable water production
- Oversees disinfection of effluent.
- Oversees removal of waste such as sludge and grease.
- Ensures that all precautions necessary for the safety of personnel and property are observed.
- Notifies the Supervisor of any deficiencies which may impact efficient operation.
- Any other duties as dictated by the Wastewater Plant Supervisor.
- This position requires that the incumbent works shift work.
- Must act in a decisive manner, using good judgment. Must be able to assess problems and situations, able to anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives.
- Must be able to effectively interpret the policies and objectives of the department.
- Maintain stock control.
- Other duties as assigned.
