Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Treatment Engineer/EIT to join our Water Team based in the Burnaby, BC office. The candidate for this position will work on civil infrastructure, pumping station, drinking water and wastewater treatment projects and related infrastructure including planning and feasibility to design, construction, and commissioning.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignment are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Exercise judgement limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Equipment selection and liaison with equipment suppliers and vendors.
- Preparation of technical specifications, special provisions and forms of tender.
- Prepare technical reports and analysis to support project assignments.
- Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy
- Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Provision of contract administration services during the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete water and wastewater infrastructure assignments.
- Actively engage in professional development and industry events
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process) + minimum 2 years experience with municipal water/wastewater treatment plant or equivalent experience
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possess the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Capable of using spreadsheet, work processing and standard office software
- Eligibility for registration in EGBC as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated communication skills through publications or presentations, and work
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, BioWin, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
- Experience with project management concepts, principles, and duties
