Description:

About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Wayleave Officer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team in the North of Scotland! As a Wayleave Officer, you’ll play a key role in securing essential third-party consents and ensuring smooth access and coordination across our projects.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for arranging third-party consents and submitting formal applications aligned with the project programme and team requirements. This could include applications for road and footpath closures with local authorities, planning access routes, and coordinating with relevant agencies such as the Rivers and Canals Trust. You’ll maintain open, ongoing communication with clients, keeping Grantors informed of all activities and resolving access issues with the client and project team to meet project goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Liaise with the client Wayleave Officer to visit each site alongside Engineers and General Foremen, ensuring land requirements, access to work positions, and tower sites are addressed.
  • Work with Local Authorities, the Highways Agency, Police, and other parties to manage road or footpath closures and any necessary access restrictions.
  • Collaborate closely with Grantors, managing any access issues and ensuring smooth, approved access for all activities.
  • Implement a system for access maps and updates, guaranteeing the project team works from accurate, current drawings and records.
  • Review wayleave-specific risk assessments, perform safety checks, and ensure all visitors are fully inducted on project and safety standards.
