Description:

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent to community college completion. Recognized advanced specialized training beyond high school in specialty areas such as business/commerce or technology (not university completion) 3–4-year diploma program.

EXPERIENCE

  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control would be an asset.
  • 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience in developing and delivering training programs.

ABILITIES

  • Work is project oriented. The Process Specialist needs to be able to work on several projects, all at various stages, at any given time.
  • An understanding of Converting: Printing, Laminating, Slitting and Pouch making processes, equipment, and controls.
  • Process oriented.
  • Ability to deal with all levels of an organization, especially shop-floor personnel.
  • Strong leadership skills: ability to supervise and motivate others in a team environment.
  • Computer literate, familiar with PC-based programs such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours if necessary.
  • Good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Will provide analytical skills, technical project management, and process support to the Converting operations. Troubleshoot processing problems related to the production of plastic films utilizing root cause analysis, SPC and DOE (Design of Experiments) methods to improve process performance and resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Ongoing support / development of department initiatives to standardize work, streamline Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Standard Operating Conditions (SOC’s).
  • Analyze available data from QA Reports, Customer Complaints, and other available sources to prioritize improvement initiatives. Conduct root cause analysis of Quality Complaints.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to continuously improve manufacturing operations and scrap elimination.
  • Assist in the development of alternate manufacturing processes or materials that will assist Converting to optimize performance and achieve the highest quality at the lowest cost.
  • Work closely with supervisors and management to improve outputs in the Converting departments with particular emphasis on inter-departmental processing issues.
  • Interact regularly with the Technical and R&D groups on new technologies and developments that can be applied in the Converting areas.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication throughout the organization.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.
  • Gather data from operators who run machines and get inputs on unusual complaints when producing specific structures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
