The web editor/communication officer will join the web unit of the Central Communication Team, which is part of the Rectorate.
Responsibilities:
The job holder will be responsible for supporting the management of the University’s web presence to ensure optimal user experience and accessibility. This includes maintaining and updating web content, implementing web strategies, and supporting various digital communication initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of excellent communication skills, creativity, and a strong understanding of web technologies and digital communications.
Website Management:
- Maintain and update the University’s websites, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging
- Optimise websites for SEO, accessibility (WCAG), and mobile responsiveness
- Implement and manage CMS updates and enhancements
Content Development:
- Collaborate with the Communication team to develop and publish high-quality content, including text, images, and multimedia
- Ensure consistency in style, tone, and branding across all web pages
- Create and manage landing pages for specific campaigns or events
Technical Support and Development:
- Assist in the development and deployment of web-based applications and tools
- Work with IT and external vendors to integrate third-party services and tools
- Conduct regular site audits and implement improvements to enhance user experience and functionality
Analytics and Reporting:
- Utilise web analytics tools (e.g.,Matomo) to monitor site traffic and user behaviour
- Generate regular reports on website performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvements
Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to staff on the use of CMS and other web-related tools
- Develop and maintain documentation and guidelines for web content management and best practices
