Job Title: Welding Monitor (externally referred to as Specialist) - Boksburg

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Qualified Artisan (Trade Test) as Welder or Boilermaker (Red Seal)
  • International Welding Specialist (IWS) / International Welding Practitioner (IWP)
  • 5 years minimum as a welding operator in a welding production
  • Experience in welding supervision, coordination and/or training
  • Knowledge of EN/ISO standards (EN ISO 9606, EN ISO 15085, ISO 3834, ISO 9712)
  • Technical and behavioural skills / competencies
  • Knowledge of welding processes
  • Knowledge of None Destructive Testing methods
  • Sound working knowledge of welding procedures
  • Knowledge of welding imperfections
  • Railway industry knowledge will be an advantage
  • Fluent in English read, written, spoken
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, QRQC, control plans

Responsibilities:

Assist welding operators during the course of production activities (WPS, WPQR, mock-ups, sub-assemblies, welding control & supervision) railway applications. To conduct in-line inspection before, during and after welding. To train welding operators on the requirements of the products. To train and evaluate welding operators during qualification and at the beginning of the production phase.
