Novarc Technologies is looking for a skilled and experienced Welding Technologist to join our growing team and support the production of our cobots.
Summary: As a Welding Technologist you will be an SWR Operator and Trainer and have a strong background in welding technology, with specific expertise in robotic welding systems. This role will be responsible for developing, programming, and maintaining robotic welding processes. As a key technical and customer facing role, you will engage with our SWR along multiple stages. You will be completing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the SWR at our production facility, training customers on using their SWRs at customer sites, and working hand in hand with our Customer Support team to support our customers remotely and in person globally.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Welding Technology is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding technology, specifically with robotic welding systems. Journeyman certification is preferred.
- Expertise: Proven proficiency in pipe welding/fitting, with a strong background in both shop floor operations and fieldwork.
- Robotic Welding Systems: Hands-on experience in programming and operating robotic welding equipment (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, UR).
- Welding Processes: In-depth knowledge and experience with various arc welding processes (MIG, TIG, etc.), alongside a comprehensive understanding of welding techniques and principles.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in welding technology, metallurgy, and welding codes/standards.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Quality Control: Skilled in detecting welding defects and performing accurate caliper measurements (strong mathematical aptitude).
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and communicate across cross-functional teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of performing extensive standing, walking, and bending for prolonged periods.
- Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Travel: Valid passport and ability to travel up to 50% of the time across Canada, the USA, and internationally for field installations and customer support.
- Flexibility: Availability to adapt to flexible work shifts as required.
WORK SCHEDULE & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Core Hours: Standard 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, beginning at 7:30 AM.
- Weekend Travel: Due to our global client base, occasional weekend travel may be necessary to support installations, training, and customer service.
- Travel Commitment: Travel requirements may range from 25% to 50% annually.
