Wellness Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post secondary education in related field such as health sciences, human services, social work, psychology, health promotion, public health, wellness management, or a related discipline.
• 3 years’ experience in benefit program administration considered an asset.
• Certification in wellness coaching, health education, or a related field may be an advantage. Having completed and facilitated The Working Mind, Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Intervention Skills training, and Critical Incident Stress Management training, considered an asset.
• Credentials in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) considered an asset.

Education and Promotion:

• Promote wellness programs and encourage participation through marketing, communication, and outreach efforts.
• Provide educational resources and information to help individuals make informed decisions about their health.
• Support the development of internal educational programs for wellness

Support:

• Offer guidance and support to individuals seeking help with specific health and wellness concerns.
• Connect participants with relevant resources, services, or healthcare providers.
• Develop approaches to complex mental health and wellness issues

Program Development:

• Develop, manage, and implement a wellness policy, framework, and strategies for internal functions within the City of Medicine Hat.
• Create a comprehensive wellness strategy that encompasses physical fitness, nutrition, stress management, and other relevant aspects of well-being.
• Research, design, and develop wellness programs that cater to the needs and interests of the target population.

Program Implementation:

• Execute wellness programs, workshops, and initiatives, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively.
• Development of yearly health and wellness calendar.
• Organizational and planning skills to coordinate presentations and individual/group meetings to build awareness around health and wellness initiatives and support corporate wellness initiatives.

Education and Promotion:

• Promote wellness programs and encourage participation through marketing, communication, and outreach efforts.
• Provide educational resources and information to help individuals make informed decisions about their health.
• Support the development of internal educational programs for wellness.

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Gather and analyse data and information for various benefit programs to measure the success of program initiatives and inform policy decisions.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of wellness programs by collecting data and feedback from participants.
• Adjust and improve programs based on evaluation results to ensure continuous improvement.

Support:

• Offer guidance and support to individuals seeking help with specific health and wellness concerns.
• Connect participants with relevant resources, services, or healthcare providers.
• Develop approaches to complex mental health and wellness issues.

Collaboration and Networking:

• Build relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure necessary resources and services.
• Liaise with Corporate Health and Safety on best practices, plans and initiatives.
