Work Location: Regina and Saskatoon – This role is eligible for hybrid work. This means you’ll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Regina or Saskatoon) on a scheduled rotation.

The successful candidate will develop and drive implementation of SGI’s corporate-wide wellness framework, corporate-wide strategies, programs, and initiatives. In this role, you will act as a strategic partner who provides guidance, supports and collaborates with other departments and leaders to integrate wellness initiatives into existing organizational structures, practices and processes. You will support in drafting board and executive reports related to wellness and psychological safety. You will also support SGI’s continuous advancement of the Employee Resource Groups. You will act as an internal advisor for situations or initiatives requiring a wellness and mental health support. You will develop and deliver management training on wellness practices and support Talent Development for acquisition of learning programs. You will also provide direction and guidance on the application of programs, policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders. You will foster a culture of safety excellence, including psychological safety, diversity, equity and inclusion. As well as research and stay abreast of wellness best practices and represent SGI on external committees.
Key Accountabilities

Wellness Strategy
- Develops and drives implementation of the wellness strategy and frameworks.
- Partners with leaders to adopt practices that promotes mental health and builds a psychologically safe environment.
- Leads and participates in cross-functional work teams, strategic planning initiatives, workshops and meetings to develop innovative and practical wellness solutions, program goals, objectives, governance processes and practical recommendations.
- Partners with Leave Management, Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and Indigenous Relations (IR) to expand psychological safety and wellness programming.
- Identifies and develops creative ways to measure and report on the impact and effectiveness of the wellness strategy and programs. Provides subject matter expertise to analyze data, interpret results and recommend opportunities for improvements and areas of gaps.
- Researches and stays informed of health and wellness leading practices. Understands SGI’s work environments to ensure wellness programing is tailored to and that the wellness strategy and programs remain relevant.
- Networks with other organizations and agencies for knowledge sharing and to ensure the wellness strategy considers risks and mitigation plans.
- Supports the development of respective Employee Resource Groups (ERG); including providing learning opportunities for ERGs, expanding a wellness lens to DEI events, etc.
- Contributes to reporting requirements including drafting board and executive reports as well as supporting responses to government requests as it relates to wellness.
Wellness Programming & Services
- Leads the development, implementation, awareness and maintenance of the wellness program, initiatives and accompanying standards.
- Develops and implements policies, procedures and tools to effectively manage wellness initiatives and ensures alignment with organizational objectives.
- Manages the quality, consistency and timely delivery of wellness program activities, including health and wellness campaigns.
- Partners with Talent Development to develop, deliver, coordinate, or procure training, learning opportunities and awareness programs which support wellness objectives.
- Proposes and recommends relevant policies or programs to ensure a more psychological safe workplace; structures action plans and ensures effective deployment.
- Communicates regularly with leadership and stakeholders to provide updates on wellness program activities, achievements and challenges.
- Provides subject matter expertise to analyze data, usage and interpret trends on employee health and wellness programs and recommend opportunities for improvements and areas of gaps.
- Manages budgets, resources and partnerships necessary to support wellness programming.
- Collaborates with other departments to develop, implement and integrate wellness initiatives and/or training into existing organizational structures and practices (e.g. Leave Management, employee onboarding, Corporate Safety, etc.).
- Procures vendors as required through an RFP process to develop and deliver training related to wellness.
- Communicates lessons learned and action plans from wellness initiatives to support continuous improvement.
- Provides expertise as a wellness subject matter expert to positively influence organizational culture.
- Oversees the ongoing maintenance and suitability of corporate wellness rooms.
Mental Health Support
- Acts as an internal advisor for situations or initiatives requiring a wellness and mental health lens. Provides guidance and supports employee inquiries expressing concerns with wellness or psychological safety.
- Leads in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Mental Health Standard.
- Researches and stays informed about current trends, leading practices and emerging issues in the field of mental health and uses data to inform recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of mental health supports offered to SGI employees.
- Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of mental health training, including Mental Health First Aid.
- Oversees corporate FSEAP training offerings to maintain their relevance and suitability.
- Serves as a corporate champion for employee mental health and wellness, promoting a culture of well-being throughout the organization.
- Liaises with Leave Management, Employee Relations and Corporate Safety where physical or psychological safety concerns are suspected specific to the workplace and employee work activities.
Leadership
- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.
- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.
- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.
- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.
Corporate Management
- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.
- Manages risk in area of authority.
- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.
Education and Experience
- A four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Health Sciences, Public Health or Health Promotion.
- Six years’ related experience in employee wellness including developing wellness strategies, policies and programs.
- A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.
- Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist or other related designation/certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of wellness best practices.
- Knowledge of SGI corporate policies, procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Knowledge of health care services, community resources and support services.
- Knowledge of change management practices.
- Knowledge of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Workers’ Compensation Act, The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code (and equivalent legislation in AB, MB and ON) and other related legislation as they relate to wellness and mental health.
- Knowledge of the prevention and cause(s) of incidents and injuries.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of a safe workplace, including shared responsibility, accountability and due diligence.
- Skill in analytical and critical thinking to determine business needs and provide recommendations and innovative solutions.
- Skill in developing proposals and presenting recommendations to obtain alignment, co-operation, and approval for proposed courses of action, programs and procedures.
