Responsibilities:
The Whānau Ora Practitioner will deliver a kaupapa Māori mental wellness service, incorporating traditional Māori psychotherapy and wellness methodologies. This role is the first point of contact for whānau experiencing mild to moderate distress, focusing on holistic mental wellness to enhance the strengths of the whānau. The practitioner will work in a kaupapa Māori environment, supported by Māori expertise and western clinical oversight when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support Kaupapa Māori therapeutic activities, providing quality care to whānau experiencing mild to moderate stress.
- Coordinate care with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best health outcomes for whānau.
- Oversee key activities, including learning modules for kaimahi and whānau, and report updates to leadership.
- Build strong relationships with whānau, internal team members, and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, manage risks, and comply with Health & Safety regulations.
Position Specifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience advocating, facilitating, and supporting whānau.
- Tertiary level qualification in a related field or equivalent experience with Kaupapa Māori wānanga systems.
- Commitment to Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori; fluency in Te Reo Māori preferred.
- Ability to facilitate and support Karakia, Powhiri, and whakatau.
- Knowledge of community and service networks within the local community.
- Familiarity with the Whānau Ora outcomes framework.
- Proficient in Microsoft products and client management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Full clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
