Description:
JOB OVERVIEW
The British International School Riyadh (BISR) is an extremely well-regarded not-for-profit, co-educational school in the Middle East, catering for students aged 3-18 across seven campuses, providing high-quality education to the expatriate community since 1979. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and as a British School Overseas (BSO). BISR is also a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO), the Heads Conference (HMC) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The school follows the English curriculum, greatly enriched by the local and international context. Learning is holistic, supported by a broad enrichment programme, encompassing extra-curricular activities, student leadership, service learning and residential trips. Strong pastoral care supports student well-being.
‘Al Hamra re: imagined’ is our new project to reinvigorate the existing Al Hamra campus.
Working with world-leading educational architects, Education Design International (EDI) Al Hamra will be an exceptional campus, complementing our other campuses in Riyadh. With refurbishment ongoing through the 2025-6 year, our student enrolments will be capped at approximately 450-500 students from FS1 through to Year 9, with two form entry in most year groups. On completion, the school will host approximately 1200 students (four form entry). We will be offering various pathways through the school, including BTECs at the top end, as well as the traditional A Levels and GCSEs.
We are looking for outstanding teachers and support staff who are committed to ensuring Al Hamra is a roaring success. Successful candidates will need a strong commitment to our REACH values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Challenge and Happiness) along with the willingness to go the extra mile to ensure our entire community feels welcomed, challenged and successful. In return, we offer the chance to work with fabulous students in excellent working conditions (including salaries and benefits), great career prospects, professional development, and the opportunity to be at the forefront of this exciting project.
WHOLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER (PE)
We seek an enthusiastic PE teacher to join our team who will be committed to continuing the excellent reputation of the school. You will need to be reflective in your practice, highly motivated and able to work collaboratively to provide outstanding learning experiences for all children.
This position lends itself to applicants who have experience in teaching a wide range of activities across both Primary and Senior school. We specifically seek a candidate who can co-deliver the BTEC in Sport, and support the curriculum swimming programme, previous swim teaching experience or qualifications would be an advantage.
With an expanding ECA programme, the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the continued development and growth of the department. Our CCA performance sports include Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball and Athletics, so a passion for one or all of these areas would be welcome. We strive to develop and add to our programmes, and candidates with a creative skillset are also encouraged to apply. We seek to become a beacon of excellence in our field. The position includes an expectation to support events and regional/international trips on weekends.
