Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

CSR are seeking a Work, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Queensland and New Zealand. In this newly created role you will be at the forefront of safety leadership, cultural change, and continuous improvement.
As the WHSE Manager you will play a critical role in developing and executing safety strategies that align with CSR’s WHSE standards. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead safety initiatives across multiple high-risk sites, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategies and site-specific risk reduction plans to ensure compliance with legislation and CSR standards.
  • Champion CSR safety initiatives, including “Never Walk Past,” Permit to Work, CoR, and Machine Guarding.
  • Coach leaders, management teams, and frontline operators to elevate safety leadership and drive WHSE cultural change.
  • Lead safety investigations, ensuring high-quality root cause analysis and prompt action closure.
  • Establish systems and processes to meet evolving legislative, organisational, and market needs.
  • Oversee compliance with the National Self Insurance Audit tool and conduct site verifications.
  • Lead WHSE committees and ensure contractor accountability through effective coaching and mentoring.
  • Drive excellence in safety performance, sustainability, and environmental targets.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Experience: Proven track record in a high-risk industry (e.g., construction, manufacturing, mining, or heavy manufacturing).
  • Leadership: Demonstrated capability to build WHSE leadership at all levels, from senior management to frontline teams.
  • Communication: Strong influencing and engagement skills to drive cultural and behavioral change.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in complex risk assessments, standards interpretation, and solution development.
  • Education: Tertiary qualification in WHSE, Safety Science, or related discipline.
