QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 5 years of multidisciplinary experience in wildlife biology/management and field biology in an environmental consulting capacity.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Biology, or equivalent.
• Registered (or eligible) Professional Biologist within British Columbia.
• Knowledge and experience working with a First Nations organization.
• Previous experience managing and implementing projects.
• Advanced ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and manage time.
• Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong desire to advance one’s career and skill set.
• Excellent technical written and oral communication skills.
• Solid team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Discretion and respect for confidentiality.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

• Design, develop, and conduct baseline studies on wildlife in natural settings.
• Collect biological data and specimens for analysis.
• Analyze data related to effect of human activity on wildlife and habitats.
• Develop conservation plans and make recommendations on wildlife conservation and management in alignment with Splatsin cultural preservation.
• Provide biological/technical engagement and consultative support to Splatsin leadership/Title and Rights in communications with external governments and stakeholders.
• Present project developments and outcomes to the Splatsin community and other Secwepemc communities.
• Collaborate on projects with other Secwepemc communities.
• Develop and implement reporting and research programs as needed.
• Ensure company and client safety standards are met by the Environment team.
• Assign tasks to team members, coordinate scheduling, and oversee implementation of works.
• Track project time allocations, expenses, and completed works against work plans.
• Maintain frequent and clear communications with the Environment Manager on project outcomes and challenges.
• Assist other project managers with tasks as needed.
• Develop project approaches and solutions to meet company and client needs.
• Explore business development opportunities with new and existing clients.
• Investigate and pursue available project grant funding, develop grant proposals, liaise with funding representatives, and complete summary reports.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements associated with scopes of work.
• Assist in developing a company training and mentorship program.
• Monitor team experience, skills, and performance on an ongoing basis.
• Assist in developing career and professional development plans for Environment staff.
