Description:

THE POSITION

We are currently seeking Wildlife Biologists to join our team based out of our Edmonton and Whitecourt office. This is a full-time permanent position that is focused on inventory, assessments and ecological restorations. Project work includes forest inventory, ecological site assessments, wildlife inventories, and roadway/stream crossing assessments and restorations. Project work is remote, team based, safety driven and is completed for the energy and forest sectors throughout the province.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • This position is accountable for safe and efficient project work;
  • Manage project deliverables and working relationships with Woodlands’ peers, management and clients;
  • Initiate, develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives and best practices;
  • Assist the Operation Manager with the scheduling and management of projects.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in wildlife sweeps, wetland assessments, watercourse crossing assessments, fish identification, fishery habitat classification, plant identification, soil classification, ecological restorations, field data collection and reporting;
  • Experience in remote field work and working around big yellow equipment will be considered an asset;
  • University Degree or technical diploma is required in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology or Engineering;
  • Professional registration or eligibility in one of Alberta’s Professional Regulatory Organizations;
  • Minimum experience of 2 years;
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills;
  • Ability to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract;
  • Ability to demonstrate a safety and customer service focus.
