Our Power Operations team is currently looking for a Wind Operations Controller I to join our Remote Operation Center in Calgary, Alberta.
This position will be responsible for monitoring and controlling of wind and solar farms on a 24 / 7 / 365 rotating shift basis using various computer-based monitoring applications.
Join our team and be part of a control center that operates our growing wind and solar fleet! While wind/solar/control center experience is an asset, transferrable experience will be considered, and training will be provided.
You will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and the remote operation of wind turbine generators (WTG’s), solar farms, electrical substation systems, and also have accountability to document all activity aligned with regulatory requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor real-time activity, performance, and operational status of all wind and solar assets on a 24-hour basis. Understand and identify abnormal operating and alarm conditions on turbines, inverters and substations
  • Interpret and apply technical drawings, procedures, and other relevant documentation to resolve operational / reliability issues
  • Coordinate, document, and implement all necessary remedial actions to improve turbine availability and production while ensuring site personnel safety through proficient communications
  • Monitor and operate all assets using multiple computer applications – SCADA systems, Historian databases, as well as site specific applications.
  • Review all alarms and faults to determine follow-up actions or reporting requirements
  • Assist the Plant Managers by communicating compliance issues, site operational concerns, generator operating limits, and market condition impacts
