You have significant experience managing Windows Server Infrastructure technologies with a good understanding of managing a large Windows Server Estate.

Your skills and experience should also include-

  • A good understanding of Active Directory, GPOs and hardening techniques to ensure the security of the environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing disaster recovery, data protection and high availability features of the Windows operating system.
  • Strong experience in a technical support and implementation role, with experience providing 3rd level support in a similar field.
  • Experience of monitoring and capacity management with the ability to report on the status of the environment.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, able to balance immediate and longer-term goals and utilise knowledge of operational and business activities to prioritise demand.
  • Experience working in a customer first environment where we act with their with best interested at heart.

THE ROLE

Within the University our IT Services department is on an exciting journey. Our vision is to provide globally accessible technical services and digital solutions to empower world class learning and research at the University.
We are looking for an experienced Windows Server Team Manager to join IT Services and drive our vision for Windows Servers. This exciting new role will be involved in the delivery of new IT capabilities at the University including Platform Modernisation and migration to Hybrid Cloud.
The role holder ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the Windows Server environment, ensuring that we meet our SLAs and KPIs, driving customer-centric service excellence and ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

A key focus of the role will be to provide technical leadership of our Windows Server Estate being the University’s expert in this area and advising other teams on strategy, vision and roadmap. This includes leading on initiatives to optimise IT service delivery processes, based on ITIL best practices, identifying areas for process improvement.
This role will lead on the transformation of the Windows Server technologies reducing the complexity of the environment, introducing cutting edge technologies and improving service delivery to the end users.
You will proactively manage performance ensuring KPI targets are met, driving service excellence with an active focus on customer satisfaction, making effective use of technology to remove unnecessary barriers.

Other aspects of the role will include –

  • Leadership of the Windows Server Team, setting targets for the team and managing resourcing within the team.
  • Working with key suppliers to deliver services and support to the University to ensure that its IT Infrastructure is maintained and operating optimally.
  • Support the development of business continuity plans and recovery processes are in place and tested for Infrastructure platforms.
  • Ensure IT Services are monitored and proactive maintenance performed to prevent service outages occurring.
  • Report accurately against progress and escalate risks and issues to an appropriate level for resolution or mitigation.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in Windows Server technology and use this to bring to life the roadmap.
