Hiring Unit: School of Physical and Occupational Therapy
Course Title and Course Number: POTH 682 – 001 Promoting Healthy Activity
Estimated Number of Positions: 1
Total Hours of Work per Term: 40 hours total: preparation 4 hours, course 9 weeks: 18 days x 2 hours = 36 hours.
Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 - 14:30
(9 lectures + 2 quiz + 3 Critical Reasoning Workshops/Role Play + 4 presentation days)
Dates: February 27 until Thursday May 10, 2025.
Preparatory meeting, end of February (4 hrs)
Course: 12:30 - 14:30 Tuesday March 11, 2025 – Thursday May 8, 2025 (36 hrs)
Job Description:
4 hours preparatory meeting with the course instructor (Sarah Marshall) to set expectations, review course material, review functioning of MyCourses.
36 hours To be physically present in class for all the classes, arriving 30 minutes prior to the start of the lecture or activity.
- open up classroom, turn on the lights, sort out the chairs and tables, if necessary,
- turn on the podium computer and projector,
- set up the student groups in MyCourses in the first week,
- selecting project topics and attributing them to the groups in MyCourses in the first week,
- support the lecturer by passing around markers, noting questions, taking attendance, cleaning the white-boards at the end of the class, fielding online (chat) questions if relevant, recording the lecture if relevant,
- update and grade quizzes
- grade and submit assignments
- other teaching-related, grading and MyCourses tasks as may be required.
Salary: $36.25/hour
Desired Major(s): OT or PT background, psychology would be an asset
Desired Degree Level: Masters & Grad Dips & Certs
Qualifications:
Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill.
Graduate teaching experience is preferred and an asset.
Must be eligible to work in Canada
