Data Privacy Officer at BairesDev
We are looking for a Data Privacy Officer to join our Business Development team. You will create a cutting-edge framework that provides us with a competitive advantage. You will act as the primary point of contact within the organization for members of staff, regulators, and any relevant public bodies on issues related to data protection, ensuring that BairesDev policy is in accordance with the regulations and codes of practice that apply to the activities our company and its affiliates perform. What You’ll Do:
- Create the Data Compliance Area, define roles, and hire the team.
- Define and maintain an updated strategy to ensure compliance with regulations, diagnose potential risks, evaluate the existing data protection framework, identify areas of non or partial compliance, rectifying issues by acting on missed opportunities.
- Serve as the point of contact between the company, data protection authorities, and any other claimants, responding to all types of claims that BairesDev and its affiliates may receive.
- Promote a culture of data protection compliance across all units of the organization, providing expert advice and educating employees on important data compliance requirements.
- Identify and execute mitigation actions to minimize identified risks related to data protection regulations.
- Devise training plans and provide data compliance and protection advice and support for members of staff.
- Proactively conduct audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues, maintaining records of all data processing activities carried out by the company.
- Manage third-party consultants and advisors as necessary.
Here’s what we are looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in data protection compliance or a related field.
- Expertise in the US and European data protection laws and practices including an in-depth understanding of the CCPA & GDPR.
- Experience within a legal, audit, and/or risk function department.
- Strong risk/reward decision-making skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and Advanced English level.
Desirable:
- Proven track record as a responsible ‘risk-taker’.
- Advanced Spanish and/or Portuguese.
- IAPP certifications.
