We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our Work Protection team as the Work Protection Manager at our projects within a nuclear power plant. The successful candidate will oversee the work protection team (Holders of Record) and ensure the effective implementation of work protection processes and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of nuclear safety principles, and the ability to drive a culture of safety throughout the organization.
The location is based out of Durham region, Darlington or Picking

What you will be doing :

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Work Protection Holder of Record and the work protection team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of work protection processes and procedures applicable to the nuclear power plant, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the review and approval of work protection permits, ensuring thorough assessments of work activities and appropriate controls are in place.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including operations, engineering, and maintenance, to develop and implement work protection plans that mitigate risks and ensure safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with work protection procedures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to personnel involved in the work protection process, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Serve as a liaison with plant operations, participate in audits and inspections, and ensure timely resolution of any findings or issues.
  • Monitor and analyze work protection performance metrics, and develop strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead investigations into incidents or deviations from established procedures, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including senior management, employees, and external partners.

What we are looking for :

  • Minimum of 5- 10 years of experience in a leadership role within the nuclear power industry or a similar high-hazard environment.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Work Protection Holder of Record (or equivalent) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and implementing best practices.
