MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
:  Agriculture and STEM majors preferred
Experience
: No minimum experience required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a lab-type setting.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS:

This experience would be most beneficial to careers in the Animal Science/Science fields. Students will gain knowledge and understanding about department research, create connections and collaborate with faculty and staff.

JOB PURPOSE:

The student in this position will be responsible for providing assistance in laboratorial as well as in other activities within the scope of the Precision Livestock Management laboratory. Significant part of the activities should involve ruminant nutrition, forage quality evaluation, and sheep management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Including, but not limited to: - execute laboratorial feed analysis;- sample preparation;- in vitro incubation for feed degradability and gas production trials – rumen fluid collection; assay preparation ;- Green Feed trials in sheep (in vivo methane emissions measurement).
