POSITION INFORMATION
Important Notice: Arlington County’s current applicant tracking system will no longer be public facing on August 23, 2024. A new applicant tracking system will go live on August 26, 2024, all applicants will be required to apply to open positions in the new system.
The Human Resources Department is seeking a Workers Compensation Administrator to join our team! This position manages the County’s workers’ compensation program through collaboration with the third-party claims administrator and other County department staff. This is a rewarding role requiring you to use in-depth knowledge of Virginia workers’ compensation laws to resolve complex claims issues, analytical skills to monitor program metrics and measure the third-party claims administrator’s contract compliance, and strong inter-personal skills to resolve escalated claimant issues and educate staff and managers on the program’s policies and procedures.
Specific duties include:
- Collaborating with our third-party claims administrator to ensure quality service delivery and contract compliance;
- Administering the County’s workers’ compensation disability leave benefits;
- Resolving escalated customer service inquiries regarding the County’s workers’ compensation programs;
- Strategizing with the third-party claims administrator, other County agencies and/or attorneys to resolve complex claims;
- Providing a monthly analysis of claims and program metrics;
- Managing required annual filings with the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission;
- Developing and executing training for employees and supervisors regarding the program, policies, and procedures; and
- Maintaining the workers’ compensation material on the County’s intranet site.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Demonstrated experience administering workers’ compensation programs in Virginia for a variety of employee types, including public safety;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to resolve complaints and explain rules and procedures; and
- Detail-oriented analytical and technical skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
The applicant must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or willingness/ability to use alternate forms of transportation to occasionally perform duties at locations other than the primary worksite. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain or must provide a copy of his/her official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment is contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant’s driving record.
