How you make a difference:
The Workers’ Compensation Specialist oversees the management of workers’ compensation claims and collaborates with adjusters, nurse case managers, vocational rehab, and defense counsel to ensure efficient and effective claims handling. They work closely with the Director of Workers’ Compensation to recommend strategies for claims settlement that balance cost-effectiveness and optimal outcomes for injured employees. Overall, this role plays a critical role in ensuring the fair and efficient resolution of workers’ compensation claims within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages workers’ compensation claims process, including intake, documentation, return to work tactics, and claim adjudication, while working with various parties such as adjusters, nurse case managers, defense counsel, HR, and testimony.
- Evaluates claims based on state laws, determines compensability and financial impact, and makes strategic cost-effective decisions, including the utilization of third-party vendors.
- Handles complex and time-sensitive claims, evaluates subrogation opportunities, identifies potential hazards, and assists with additional safety preventive measures.
- Ensures appropriate documentation and reporting, communicates with providers and maintains ongoing communication with various parties involved.
- Collects, evaluates, and maintains data concerning workers’ compensation, and works independently with minimal supervisor involvement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree desired.
Experience
- 2 years of experience handling Workers Compensation Claims.
