An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust as Workforce Information Analyst based at Liverpool Innovation Park, Edge Lane, Liverpool
The post holder will required to produce a wide range of complex workforce information to support managers in planning their workforce for the future in order to make best use of their funded staffing establishment, they will also be required to provide training and support to ESR users within the Human Resources Department and across the Trust, with the creation of bespoke dashboards in BI, maintaining the accuracy and consistency of data and ensuring data is credible and robust.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate willingness and a capability to learn, possess excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to motivate and inspire others. You will possess good decision-making and problem-solving skills, having the judgement to escalate complex problems when necessary and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines. You must be able to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload in an organised and methodical style. Having the ability to work to deadlines is a vital aspect of this post.
This role would suit someone who has experience collecting, analysing and interpreting large quantities of complex data, keen to expand on their current experience and has an interest in the innovation of Workforce Systems
As a member of the Human resources Team, the Workforce Information Analyst, will act as a specialist resource in all aspects of the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system; including HR Administration, Manager Self Service (MSS), Employee Self Service (ESS), Business Intelligence (BI) and Oracle Learning Management (OLM)
The post holder will provide training and support to ESR users within the Human Resources Department and across the Trust. The Workforce Information Analyst will be required to produce a wide range of complex workforce information to support managers in planning their workforce for the future in order to make best use of their funded staffing establishment. They will also have line management responsibility for the Workforce Information Assistant and be responsible for their development and support.
The Workforce Information Analyst will when necessary, develop and provide accurate reporting systems for the Trust to assist the Trust in increasing compliance to Key Performance Indicators. They will work as part of a team to provide a high standard of service delivery. There will be opportunities to learn and build reports and dashboards within Power BI and develop coding skills.

To ensure high quality workforce information is provided to the organisation to facilitate the development of robust Divisional workforce plans.

  • Specify, design and provide reports to meet local, regional and national requirements, using ESR tools (ESRBI) .
  • To support the development of action plans for Division/Corporate Service areas to attain and maintain performance levels within Trust thresholds with regard to all workforce related KPI’s (such as sickness, PDR’s and Mandatory training)
  • Carry out benchmarking to support the delivery of high-level management workforce information
  • Produce and co-ordinate information for external returns (e.g. NHSI, WRES) and major internal reports (corporate report), ensuring timely delivery to agreed deadlines and to high levels of accuracy.
  • Update records on the ESR system including employee personal details and the organisational hierarchy. Identifying errors or data anomalies and ensure they are corrected accordingly. (referring to monthly Woven reports)
  • Support the Administration of routine checking of employee’s professional registrations, including contacting employees, accessing the appropriate professional organisation’s web site, managing the ESR professional registrations interfaces and updating the employee’s personal record accordingly.
  • Undertake regular audits of data, liaise with relevant departments to ensure that necessary data fields are complete, accurate and that data inputting procedures are being followed. DBS checking, certificates of sponsorship information, ethnicity and equal opportunities data etc.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on the workforce (e.g. FOI requests, HR team request).
  • Report on learning & development, and appraisal activity, providing analysis of activity, trends, equality and diversity monitoring etc.
  • Attend user group meetings as a deputy for the Workforce Information Manager when required and any meetings with other departments where there is a need for ESR expertise or/and the provision of workforce information to support projects.
  • Promote and maintain data quality within ESR and other workforce systems.
  • Administer ESR including setting up new users, allocating the appropriate levels of responsibility (e.g. ESR, ETAD’s.).
  • Audit ESR users regularly to ensure access rights are appropriate at all times and any leavers’ records have been terminated.
  • Support an efficient ESR helpdesk service for users by providing timely support and advice.

Training and Staff Development

  • Regularly train HR and Managers across the Trust in the use of ESR, producing relevant training, guidance and support documentation
  • Provide training and development to the Workforce Information Assistant, being a point of contact for queries and escalations
  • Support the Workforce Information Manager to, plan, manage and implement defined ESR related projects.
  • To assist where appropriate in the delivery of internal HR events, including induction as directed.
  • To participate in specific project areas as agreed with the Workforce Information Manager.
  • To liaise and work with HR colleagues as appropriate to maintain effective communication, ensuring that best practice is shared and developed and to facilitate cross cover for colleagues.
  • To work in a manner consistent with the CIPD Code of Professional Conduct. To undertake any other duties as allocated, which are commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
