QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, leading with authenticity and integrity
  • Service driven, empathetic and responsive
  • Demonstrated understanding of the refugee-serving and employment-development sectors in Calgary; and of barriers refugees face in entering the labour market
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-cultural context; awareness of trauma informed approach is essential
  • Understanding of social enterprise, preferably first-hand vs theoretical
  • Knowledge of social innovation and systems-thinking approaches and mindsets is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in a related area in the public, private or social-impact sector
  • An undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred) in business, social work or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to be self-directed, self-motivated, and work independently
  • A valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Workforce Integration Coordinator is responsible for developing relationships and facilitating partnerships between participating refugees currently on Income Support. The position also develops partnerships with refugee-serving and employment-development organizations with pathways and resources to secure long term employment. This role provides a unique, hands-on opportunity to apply problem-solving skills to ensure a cohort of 40 refugees have the tools they need to remain gainfully employed for a minimum of 24 months. Strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the unique needs of refugees and their families will be essential. Experience in the social enterprise and/or nonprofit sectors would also be an asset.
This position is a full-time, limited term, conditionally funded role working 35 hours per week ending January 31, 2027. There is a possibility for this position to be renewed based on the success of this model.
