Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join our team. This role will be temporary fulltime hours for a period of 21 months to cover parental leave.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Previous experience in providing support regarding the administration, operation, security, and maintenance of safety systems.
• Current qualifications in Information Technology or Workplace Health & Safety.
• Strong technical knowledge of workplace health and safety systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently under general direction.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Commitment to promoting a safe working environment.
  Candidates who hold QLD Driver’s Licence and Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator qualifications will be highly regarded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical support and advice relating to workplace health and safety administration.
• Assist in the administration, operation, security, and maintenance of safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies.
• Promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
• Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs.
• Support the Rehabilitation and Return to Work program.
