Description:

As a Workshop Foreman, your key responsibility will be to direct and supervise the activities of workshop personnel, including mechanics, technicians, and other support staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
  • A relevant trade tested qualification
  • 3 to 5 years experience as a Workshop Supervisor preferably with earthmoving equipment (proven track record)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair activities for various types of equipment, including scheduling routine servicing and addressing breakdowns promptly
  • Ensuring that all work conducted in the workshop meets quality standards and adheres to safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Managing inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment to ensure availability for repairs and minimizing downtime
  • Providing technical support and guidance to workshop staff, assisting with complex repairs or troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Identifying training needs and providing training to workshop personnel to enhance skills and knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair techniques
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory levels, and preparing reports for management as required
  • Interfacing with customers to understand their requirements, providing estimates for repair work, and ensuring customer satisfaction with the services provided
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safe work practices
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing initiatives to enhance workshop efficiency and effectiveness
  • Liaising with other departments, such as procurement and production, to coordinate workflow and address any issues that may arise
