We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Workshop Supervisor to oversee the procurement, quality control, and verification of materials required for the production of concrete kerbstones using a Forest Press Machine (400 tons) imported from the UK. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of milling, CNC machining, and steel fabrication to ensure that the materials ordered—such as steel plates, liners, molds, die heads, washers, bolts, and other parts—are up to the required specifications and meet quality standards. While the materials will be sourced externally, this role involves reviewing technical drawings, checking incoming materials, and ensuring compliance with our requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a role related to machining, procurement, or quality control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of milling and CNC machining processes, with the ability to evaluate materials based on these principles.
  • Experience working with steel materials, molds, die heads, former plates, and other fabricated parts used in industrial manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with concrete kerbstone manufacturing processes, especially using large machinery like the Forest Press Machine.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and material specifications to ensure the right materials are ordered.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to track and manage materials and orders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve material discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with suppliers, machine operators, and internal teams.
  • A solid understanding of workshop safety protocols and best practices.
  • [Insert specific qualifications or certifications, if applicable] (e.g., knowledge of CNC programming, welding certifications, etc.).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review technical drawings and specifications to determine material requirements, including steel plates, liners, molds, die heads, former plates, cappings, washers, bolts, and other components needed for production.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to order fabricated materials (e.g., steel plates, liners, molds) based on company requirements.
  • Inspect incoming materials for quality and ensure they meet the required specifications, including dimensions, thickness, and material composition.
  • Ensure that the materials ordered are suitable for use with the Forest Press Machine (400 tons) and other production equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of CNC machining, milling, and fabrication processes to verify that external materials meet the correct standards for production.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with the materials supplied.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of materials, tracking orders and deliveries to ensure timely availability.
  • Ensure that all materials comply with safety and quality standards for manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee and manage the storage and handling of materials to prevent damage and ensure efficient access when required.

DAILY TASKS & OPERATIONS:

  • Material Verification: Conduct daily inspections of incoming materials (steel plates, liners, molds, etc.) to ensure they match technical drawings and meet quality standards before they are used in production.
  • Supplier Communication: Communicate with suppliers on a daily basis to manage orders, track deliveries, and address any issues related to material quality, specifications, or delays.
  • Inventory Management: Regularly monitor and update material inventory, ensuring there are adequate supplies for ongoing projects while minimizing waste or overstock.
  • Order Management: Process and track orders for fabricated parts, ensuring that all materials needed for production are ordered in advance and available on time.
  • Quality Control: Perform detailed quality checks of materials before they are used in production, ensuring compliance with specifications for size, weight, and composition.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of material orders, deliveries, and quality checks. Maintain logs of material inspections and any issues raised with suppliers.
  • Material Preparation: Ensure that all materials (e.g., steel plates, liners, molds) are properly stored and ready for use, taking care to avoid damage and maintaining easy access for production teams.
  • Coordination with Production Team: Work closely with the production team to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials needed for the concrete kerbstone manufacturing process.
  • Machine Maintenance Coordination: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of relevant machinery (including the Forest Press Machine) by ensuring that required parts and tools are available and in good condition.
