Description:

Overview
Assists the Brakes & Tires Workshop Supervisor to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, performs intermediate maintenance inspections, services, and repairs on all assigned aircraft brakes & tires systems, subsystems and components.
Will also be responsible to:
1. Removes, repairs, replaces, adjusts, services, repairs and pressure tests aircraft brakes & tires systems, subsystems, assemblies, and components according to technical manuals, directives, and safety procedures.
2. Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions to aircraft brakes & tires systems and subsystems or components, including accumulators and actuators, according to applicable manuals and directive.
3. Cleans, preserves, and stores aircraft brakes & tires components.
4. Uses and performs user maintenance on common and special tools. Disassembles and inspects systems, subsystems, and components for wear, warping, or other defects.
5. Tests installed parts and accessories for leakage, , and functionality using test equipment.
6. Reads and interprets manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
7. Maintains facilities for storage of flammable and hazardous materials.
8. Requisitions aircraft brakes & tires parts and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft brakes & tires systems and subsystems.
9. Inspects and prepares forms and records related to maintenance in accordance with Repair Manuals and DA PAM 738-751.
10. Trains host national personnel on the proper maintenance of aircraft brakes & tires systems and subsystems.
11. Responsible for tools and equipment inventory assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification

  • High School. Completion of a brakes and tires training or aircraft maintenance course from an accredited military or civilian aeronautical school.

  • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent.

  • Knowledgeable on The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) preferable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 Years Must have a minimum 5 years working experience with aircraft brakes and tires components

  • Must have a thorough understanding of and experience with common tools, special tools, hardware and equipment used in the maintenance of aircraft brakes & tires systems and subsystems.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot aircraft brakes & tires systems and interpret applicable technical data.
