Description:
Since 1926, Pete’s ACE Hardware has been a fixture in Castro Valley, offering the very best in helpful advice and friendly service to their many customers. Founded by Peter Selmeczki, a Hungarian immigrant, Pete’s ACE Hardware has been in the same location on the boulevard since the day it opened.
We are seeking outgoing, friendly, and helpful team members to welcome and assist customers. Previous hardware experience is a plus but not a requirement as we provide training.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of the Yard Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise products, and support the store management team.
The major responsibilities for this position include:
- Accurately and efficiently ring on warehouse register for cashless transactions.
- Actively participate in daily huddle meetings
- Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as,processing special orders
- Answer customers’ questions and provide information on products, procedures, and policies
- Assist in the training and development of peers
- Assist in the delivery of customer orders
- Conscious of shoplifting activity
- Construction and repair of product, fixtures, and miscellaneous items.
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
- Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
- Help load and unload incoming and outgoing freight. Including the processing and stocking of orders.
- Identify product shortages and out of stocks and report to store management
- Load customer orders into customer vehicles or company delivery vehicles.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Operate forklift and pallet jack to merchandise and stock product.
- Responsive of safety issues
- Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management
- Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- Age: 18 years or older.
- A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to communicate with associates and customers
- Able to operate a personal computer
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.
- Must be able to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
