Job title: Young Black Mens Project Team Leader Location: Coventry and Warwickshire Salary: £28,000 Hours: 37 hours per week Job type: Fixed Term Maternity Cover for 6 - 8 months. About the role: The Team Leader for the YBM Project will have responsibility for the day to day running of the service with the support of the Service Manager. The Team Leader will promote, manage, develop and deliver culturally sensitive mental health and emotional wellbeing support to young Black males across Coventry and Warwickshire.
You will be expected to be able to engage with our clients in a manner that is respectful, meaningful and beyond engagement, in order to create a legacy where real change is possible. Key responsibilities: To lead on allocation of support and to be responsible for the distribution and management of individual workers caseloads in the YBM Project. To facilitate the development and delivery of CW Minds Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support Services to children and young people, their families, carers and professionals supporting the child. Being responsible for ensuring that all service users receive the appropriate level of culturally specific support.
To ensure that the service delivers the agreed level of provision through the production of regular rotas, staff scheduling and registers for all areas of the service and to be involved in the delivery of services across Coventry and Warwickshire as required. To ensure accessibility of all services and to monitor and manage waiting lists and service response times. To assist with the marketing and promotion of the YBM Project throughout to a range of stakeholders across Coventry and Warwickshire via social media, website, and attending meetings/events. To address day to day issues (including problem solving where required) and to manage crisis situations in consultation with the staff team, and in line with procedures of CW Mind.
To provide monthly on call provision in rotation with other designated staff. To hold a caseload of young people aged 11-25 years and undertake delivery of interventions. Essential requirements: Experience of managing or mentoring colleagues to reach their full potential. Experience of supporting young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Experience in safeguarding and mental health crisis. Experience of being and/or working within diverse communities, with a particular interest in the Black African and Black Caribbean Communities. Understanding of diverse communities structures and the mental health needs that are required to that particular community (with special attention to the African and Afro-Caribbean Communities). Academic qualification where the qualification contains youth work, management/leadership/mentoring skills, mental health and/or social work or relevant experience.
Knowledge of seldom heard community groups that are currently working successfully with the Black communities across Coventry and Warwickshire. An ability to travel to venues across Coventry and Warwickshire (business insurance is required for your vehicle).
