Job Description and Person Specification
Responsibilities:
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Young Person’s Practitioner (YPP) to join us in our Young People’s Service and work alongside other YPP’s in our multi-agency teams of Social Workers, Youth Workers, Police Officers, Youth Justice Workers and Substance Misuse Workers. You will manage a caseload of young people , complete assessments and plans and , regularly chair Multi Agency Team around the Child meetings / Child in Need meetings to coordinate and review the support.
Our Young People’s Service is committed to supporting young people who are impacted by contextual safeguarding concerns including peer to peer violence and criminality, who are suffering or at risk of suffering significant harm because of exploitation, challenges around school attendance & participation and, enabling families to live together where there is a real risk of family breakdown.
In Southampton, this area of work has high levels of demand and the City’s young people need special people to help them overcome these challenges of family conflict, exploitation, peer on peer violence, social exclusion and, support with early crime prevention.
Our young people need workers who are quick to find solutions to complex challenges. Our young people want workers who can form trusted adult worker relationships with them and are constant figures for them through the good and difficult times. As a YPP in the Young People’s Service you will be great at balancing and prioritising competing demands and deliver a high quality trauma informed response to young people experiencing a range of adolescent issues. We need people who are calm, empathetic, solution focused, quick thinking and positive. We are looking for workers who can give young people and families high support , hope and aspiration.
