Description:

Role: Young Persons Practitioner
Salary: £25,900 per annum
Location: Cardiff
Contract: Secondment until 31 March 2025 with potential to be extended.
Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week

Our job description for the Young Persons Practitioner outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves’ are:

  • Be able to Build and sustain positive relationships, acting as a positive role model, using their own experiences to challenge negative and criminal behaviours while promoting positive choice and development.
  • Experience of working with young people with complex support needs, and ideally those within the youth justice system and multi-agency social care setting.
  • Experience of case handling in relation to children and young people
  • An understanding of assessments, care planning and reviews and a willingness to develop skills in this area.
  • A positive and non-judgemental attitude to young people in conflict with the law
  • Excellent communication skills, adapting your delivery to each individual young person.
  • Safeguarding knowledge and able to work confidentially with a sensitive approach
  • A knowledge and expertise on how best to work with vulnerable young people and in partnership with the other agencies involved in their support.
  • Understanding of Criminal Exploitation and the impact of this upon young people.
  • Resilience and understanding when dealing with challenging young people and have a non-judgemental approach.
  • Flexibly around service users’ needs
  • You’ll need to be able to drive to transport our young people to appointments or activities. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
  • Level 3 NVQ/QCF in Social Care or equivalent professional experience
  • Intermediate IT literacy with the ability to provide detailed reports through IT use
