QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with culturally diverse children
  • Knowledge of planning and delivery of youth activities
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal English)
  • Knowledge of the Rexdale community is an asset

  • Highfive Certificate (Principal of Healthy Child Development)
  • Proof of police clearance
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
    Contract Start Date: ASAP – June 2024
    Hours: Availability from 3:00 pm -6:00pm
    Pay rate: $20.00 + pay equity
    Site: Schools in Rexdale/Jamestown area.

Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Staff are expected to be willing, when requested, to explain the reasons for a decision or action to other staff or community members, particularly when others are affected by the decision or action. When affected by programming, policies and procedures, staffs are expected to offer information and opinions when relevant for the development of new or changing services, policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Implementation:

  • Develop and deliver age-appropriate activities for afterschool participants as per the funder’s requirement

  • Participate in the delivery of three main components of the afterschool programs
  • Academic Support
  • Employment Support
  • Health and Wellness
  • Snack preparation/Nutritional activities
  • Supervision of participants at after school programs
  • Assist in establishing a positive, creative, emotionally and intellectually stimulating environment within the BGC Albion programs
  • Assist in teaching and model youth appropriate social interactions and problem solving skills
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment
  • Assist in maintaining program supplies
  • Able to work evening shifts
  • Staff and Team Maintenance
  • Report any difficulties/challenges and emergencies to the Site Lead/Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the team in the planning and delivery of activities, events and trips
  • Identify training needs
  • Attend all team and staff meetings
  • Administration
  • Assist in recording and maintaining all participant information in Kidtrax
  • Maintain the attendance records and all relevant information on site
  • Record, maintain and submit incident reports as required
  • Submit timesheets on time
  • Meetings
  • Attend and actively participate in the following;
  • BGC staff meetings
  • Any other special event meetings
