Description:

OVERVIEW

International Communities Organisation is a global non-governmental organisation based in London which works to empower and protect minority rights in conflict affected settings. ICO holds Special Consultative Status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council on this mandate. To encourage peace globally, ICO supports direct beneficiaries for Communities (facilitating cross-community activities); for Diplomacy (holding dialogue and reconciliation peace talks); and for Societies (addressing economic and political inequalities).
ICO’s Youth Council programme is an opportunity for young people to share their experiences, develop their ideas and contribute to an array of issues in conflict affected areas. The Youth Council will have the opportunity to support ICO’s work in peace and reconciliation for minority groups through completing long-term tasks set on a quarterly basis. Examples of these briefs include: Conflict Analysis, Stakeholder Mapping, Policy Development, and Thematic Research. The ICO Youth Council runs based on an annual calendar, the 2025 cohort will complete their programme in December 2025. All Youth Council members will receive a written reference from ICO on the basis of the quality of their work at the end of the programme.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on a high profile research brief with an peace and minority-rights focused NGO.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in political sciences, and social sciences academic fields. We are particularly interested in students who are beginning or in the middle of their Masters programmes in a related field.
