Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Tybee Island Program Coordinator develops, organizes, and oversees all aspects of the branchs childcare operations and programs. These programs include: Health & Wellness After School Care, holiday camps, summer day camp, Mothers Morning Out, Child Watch, teen leadership programs, and community events. The individual in this role is responsible for upholding Christian principles that are central to our mission and modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma required; associates preferred.
2. One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
3. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens; annual state licensing training.
4. If assigned to transportation responsibilities, maintain the state required transportation safety training.
5. Must be able to fulfill criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and completion of YMCA program specific certifications.
6. Must be at least 21 years of age.
7. Must have exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.
9. Ability to monitor the work of multiple part-time staff.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages, directs and coordinates after school care Health & Wellness Program and day camp operations for the branch. Ensures continuation of high quality programs and works to establish new program activities. Continually works to expand community reach of child care programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Develops and implements schedules and lesson plans for participants in after school care program.
- Supports Branch Director in recruiting, hiring, and other personnel and volunteer management related tasks. Reviews and evaluates staff performance with the Senior Program Director, Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Maintains proper documentation for Bright From the Start, the State of Georgias Licensing division (I.e. CACFP Food Program, Licensing, CAPS, daily attendance records, transportation and medication logs.
- Develop and implement activity structure and content for Child Watch and Moms Day Out.
- Organizes and attends multiple special events throughout the year, including: Skate nights, family movie nights, Healthy Kids Day, trunk or treat, and breakfast with Santa.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Maintains proper records/department files. Reviews payments, receipts, late fees, immunization forms and registrations for all participants.
- Organizes and works with special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
- Assists with and attends Program Committee and Child Care Cabinet meetings.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Preventing incidents of child abuse, identifying incidents of child abuse and reacting properly in the event they occur.
- Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
- Assist in the annual Priceless Gifts fundraising program for the YMCA of Coastal Georgia
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Coordinator for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the program site. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; reward and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
