Description:

YHSI Coordinators are joining the Housing First in Appalachia Service Corps as a new category of members, with a focus on the following duties: • Educating local service providers on resources available to YYA experiencing homelessness. • Connect with youth and young adult (YYA) providers, local schools, and other appropriate entities to recruit YYA for Youth Action Boards (YAB). • Coordinate logistics, content, agendas and leadership for monthly YAB meetings. • Work closely with the statewide YHSI working group to coordinate the statewide YAB project. • Empower and support youth members in developing leadership skills, advocating for rights, and engaging in community outreach. • Organize and/or lead educational workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to increase understanding and support for youth homelessness issues. • Provide mentorship and guidance to YYA serving as YAB members, helping navigate challenges and access resources. • Monitor and evaluate the impact of local action board programs and activities. • Work closely with local Coordinated Entry staff to ensure appropriate access is available for YYA. •Serve as a liaison between local YABs, YHSI working groups, and local Continuum of Care (CoC) leadership.
Member Duties : The YHSI Coordinator will lead regional and localized efforts to provide youth and young adults (YYA) experiencing homelessness with the support, resources, and agency they need to thrive. This position will work to develop and support Youth Action Boards (and their Coordinators, where applicable), build relationships with regional partners and service providers, and enhance the homeless response system for YYA experiencing homelessness.
