Description:

STANDARD SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

  • To attend in-house and external training courses as required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post.
  • To co-operate fully with any scheme or pilot scheme that shall be

introduced within the department or across the Service.

  • To implement the principles of the Service’s Equal Opportunities and

Diversity Policies and Welsh Language Schemes whilst carrying out

the above duties.

Procedures and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR

Phoenix Project Manager, Reflect Project Manager,
Fire Cadet Manager, Youth Ops Liaison WM and
Volunteer Co-ordinator

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST

To lead the Phoenix Project, Reflect Project, Fire Cadets, Volunteers and
other occasional youth programs, providing key local and national direction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate, develop and manage Community Safety youth programmes and

initiatives supporting organisational, local and national strategies

  • Develop and manage the SWFRS volunteer project in line with

organisational policy

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of Youth and Volunteer

strategies and legislation

  • To develop, implement and review policies and procedures to ensure

that youth interventions and volunteer project meet the needs of the

organisation

  • To provide advice, support, direction and supervision to the Youth

Operational Liaison WM, Fire Cadet Manager, Phoenix Project

Manager, Reflect Project Manager and the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

  • To manage the Fire Cadet, Volunteer, Phoenix and Reflect Project

budgets

  • To research and prepare funding proposals for existing and additional

youth initiatives and volunteering opportunities

  • To lead and direct best practice and delivery for qualifications, awards

and accreditation in relation to youth initiatives and volunteering

  • To collate and present data and evaluation information in the

furtherance of strategic planning

  • To prepare reports for strategy meetings, stakeholders, and Welsh

Government

  • Management and monitoring of the Youth Database, ‘Online Fire Cadet

Manager’ and ‘Better Impact’ electronic systems

  • Represent SWFRS at the All-Wales Fire Cadet Board and Early

Intervention Board Meetings

  • Represent the Service at NFCC Fire Cadet Board, NFCC Princes Trust

and NFCC Volunteer Network meetings

  • To represent the department on internal and external committees and

the working parties of partner organisations

  • Attendance at conferences and seminars to present and promote good

practice

  • To provide advice and guidance to service personnel and external

organisations in respect of Youth and Volunteer related issues

  • To maintain an overview of the service’s risk reduction strategy
  • To maintain personal core competencies and help to develop those of

others

  • Any other duties commensurate with the post and grade
