Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Zero Harm Advisor (Health and Safety Advisor) to join our team based in Wellington. In this role, you will provide technical advice, coaching and mentoring to operational teams throughout the region. With the Health and Safety of our people, communities and the environments we work in, at the forefront of what we do, you will be passionate about bringing people together to champion a Zero Harm culture.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure a consistent national approach to Zero Harm is maintained through effective implementation, monitoring and review of Zero Harm activities.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to continuously improve knowledge and performance to ensure compliance to The Downer Standard.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Zero Harm Road Map, innovation strategies and embedding positive ZH culture and initiatives across all operational functions and supporting the changing needs of the business.
Facilitate and lead incident reporting and investigation process and provide support and guidance to People Managers through the return to work and injury management process.Provide technical advice and support in the identification, assessment and control of workplace risks.
NGA PŪKENGA MATUA | IMPORTANT SKILLS
To be successful in this challenging but rewarding role, you will bring with you proven ability to influence and drive a positive Zero Harm culture. You will have at least 2-3 years’ experience in the planning and implementation of Zero Harm processes and disciplines, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industries. You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety coupled with experience in a similar role.
- ICAM Incident Investigation and Quality/Safety Lead Internal Auditor qualifications are desirable.
- High levels of problem-solving skills and emotional intelligence to professional navigate complex issues.
- Sound knowledge of statutory provisions, injury management and workers compensation.
- A collaborative approach to working within and across multi-functional teams from different parts of the business.
Excellent people skills with the ability to mentor, coach and develop operational teams.High level of proficiency in MS Office applications, with a quick aptitude for learning and navigating internal systems.
