Description:

TE KŌWHIRINGA | THE OPPORTUNITY

Downer has been appointed as the asset manager and maintenance contractor for the City Rail Link (CRL) stations for a period of up to 30 years under the Asset Management and Services (AMAS) contract with Auckland Transport. The contract delivery period commences at practical completion of the CRL project that is scheduled for 2025. The AMAS team is currently engaged in the contract mobilisation phase alongside the construction alliance for the 3 new CRL stations and maintaining Waitematā Train station.
The Zero Harm Business Partner for the AMAS contract, as well as for the broader Social Infrastructure and Citizen Services Zero Harm function (The Hub), plays a vital role in delivering technical support, documentation, systems, coaching, and mentoring to the operations and mobilization teams at their sites. This position is dedicated to integrating compliance activities and health and safety measures, along with best environmental practices, into the AMAS contract, ensuring adherence to statutory, environmental, and contractual requirements.

NGA PŪKENGA MATUA | IMPORTANT SKILLS

  • Minimum 3 years of compliance management experience, including practical application of HSE processes in a facilities maintenance environment.
  • Experience managing contracts and KPIs, with a formal qualification in HSE at NZQA Level 4 or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proven ability to deliver in-house training, ideally with a “train the trainer” qualification or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong skills in influencing HSE during planning stages and promoting a zero-harm culture, along with effective rehabilitation knowledge under the ACC Partnership Programme.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated problem-solving abilities, and a high level of emotional intelligence, with a track record in coaching and fostering a positive HSE culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, documentation, and coaching to operations and mobilization teams.
  • Integrate compliance activities, health and safety (H&S), and best environmental practices into daily operations.
  • Embed systems and verify H&S practices within the operations team.
  • Implement and manage a quality management framework related to compliance for facilities management delivery.
  • Conduct incident investigations and monitor compliance with contractual, company, and statutory requirements.
  • Promote a collaborative culture focused on best practices and Zero Harm outcomes.
