POSITION SUMMARY  The primary purpose of this position is to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walkways, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. One will align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, patch voids, and use saws to cut expansion joints.   The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Quality, Safety and Production (each of equal weight and importance) but, most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.   SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES * Signals concrete truck driver to position vehicle to facilitate pouring concrete. * Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms. * Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel. * Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency with handheld screen and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping. * Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete. * Finishes concrete surfaces, and wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to finish. * Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. * Molds expansion joints and edges. * Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish. * Produces rough concrete surface with broom. * Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine. * Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms. * Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces. * Operates all equipment and tools required to do each job which may include cement mixing machines, power trowels, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other instruments. * Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long lasting use.  EMPLOYEE SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE  * Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety. * Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with. * Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed. * Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so. * Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations or Company policies and procedures promptly, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so. * Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.). * All employees, current and former, must maintain confidentiality by not disclosing to others any confidential, proprietary or trade secret information belonging to the Company.
